What is a pandemic?

In these last days, the Coronavirus (Covid-19) was proclaimed a “pandemic”, but what does that mean? When the spread of a virus hits lots of country in the world, it is called “pandemic”. This word derives from the Greek and it means literally  “All the people”. Today 91 states are hit by this virus: China, Iran, Italy, Spain, USA, Germany, France, for example, with more 4500 deaths. In Italy there are new dispositions about the emergency.

Naturally the cafes and shops have been closed. In Spain the market and pharmacies are open and there's the police control city round, but the people continue to go to work or to walk their dog. For me not all the people have understood the situation and how COVID-19 is dangerous.
